December 20, 2011 - To Mr. and Mrs. Sammy and Janet Caingoy, there is still something to look forward to this Christmas despite their recent ordeal as Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions (CLIS) granted them P25,000.00 worth of fire claims. A total of P275,000.00 Alagang Cebuana Plus (ACP) cash assistance was released to the fire victims from Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City.

Mr. Teddy Tierra, another resident, recounted how he woke up at around 1:00 am of November 20, 2011, to find the abandoned residence just steps across his home was being consumed by fire. He said the blaze had broken out too rapidly that he was not able to save even one of his possessions. Reports later said that the fire was caused by a neglected candle in the abandoned house which was frequently used as a hangout by groups of teenagers. The tragedy resulted to five casualties and destroyed around 500 homes, leaving 1,500 families homeless—weeks before Christmas day.

The check awarding ceremony was attended by CLIS General Manager Jonathan Batangan, CLIS Operations Manager Rhoneil Pascual, Barangay Kagawad Mark Fajardo, Cebuana Lhuillier Area Operations Managers Joselito Dimaano and Rey Cruz, Cebuana Lhuillier V Luna branch manager Analyn Abido, CLIS staff, and Cebuana Lhuillier operations team.
